Micronutrients are nutrients that exist in small amounts in foods,
they do not provide energy but are vital for the proper functioning of
the body. Some minerals are even part of our body tissues -- for
example, bones and teeth, containing calcium and fluoride, and the blood
that contains iron.
Micronutrients are divided into:
- Vitamins.
- Minerals.
Vitamins --
Vitamins are not produced by the body, we can only get them from the
food that we eat. To a greater or lesser extent, they are an integral
part of almost all of them -- the fruit, the vegetables, the meat, etc…
The body needs 13 different vitamins to function properly.
Vitamins
There are two types of vitamins: water-soluble vitamins -- water
soluble and absorbed by the intestine -- and the fat-soluble vitamins --
fat soluble and absorbed by the intestine, with the help of minerals
produced by the liver.
Minerals
There are at least 20 different minerals and they all play a specific
role in controlling metabolism or maintenance of body tissues.
Constitute 5% to 6% of the human body, although some minerals like
calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and sodium, are found in
considerable higher doses. Those who need smaller doses are arsenic,
boron, bromine, cadmium, chromium, fluoride, selenium, manganese, sulfur
or zinc.
Normally, we acquire the minerals we need with the right diet to lose weight fast.
However, it also happens there are people with disabilities of some
minerals -- like iron, calcium and iodine. Therefore, there is often a
need to add certain minerals to foods. If you learn how to lose weight fast, you will see how you can eat well and be able to ingest all the right amount of minerals and vitamins with your food.
